My project aims to address research from my dissertation study, the Saudi Vision of 2030 by making it visible to people around the UK, specifically in Sheffield. Saudi Arabia has always been known as the “Country of Oil” or the “Home of Islam”, but due to the restricted tourist visas in the past, foreigners are unable to make clear judgements on what Saudi Arabia is actually like and the developments that are shaping the country to what it is today. As Saudi enables tourist visas, people around the world are hesitant to visit due to their lack of observation on the matter. For that reason, my project aims to create a space within Sheffield that allows foreigners to become more aware of the Saudi Arabian historical culture and the objectives and plans the country has for it’s 2030 vision. The space I will be creating explores the three main pillars which are the basis of the vision, while also exhibiting what it feels like to be in Saudi Arabia. I want to generate a space that enables people to experience the changes that are happening in Saudi for themselves, and to get a glimpse of the heritage and overall feel of the country. This project raises awareness in aspiration that people around the world will start to visit the country and share their experiences as tourists in Saudi Arabia.
